AI integrations
Connect PlanElec to ChatGPT and Claude
Use PlanElec Pro with your own AI assistant in ChatGPT or Claude. Through MCP, find projects, discuss the planning status and create projects with write permission. Our goal: control the entire PlanElec app from your conversation.
Which tools are available now?
Read and understand projects
Use planning tools
Change your electrical plan
Review your assistant’s results for technical accuracy. PlanElec supports planning and self-checks; the recognised inspection body carries out the official inspection.
Planned: control the entire app from your conversation
MCP is intended to let Pro users control the entire PlanElec app, from creating projects and editing electrical plans to preparing documentation. This expansion is in development. The current tools are listed above; full app control is not yet available.
Connect your assistant
The MCP integration is intended for PlanElec Pro users. You also need access to custom MCP connections with your AI provider. A workspace administrator may need to enable them. Add PlanElec manually using the server URL below.
Remote MCP server URL
https://planelec.be/mcpChoose OAuth, sign in to PlanElec and review the requested permissions. Enter your password only on the PlanElec sign-in page, never in a chat.
Connect with ChatGPT
- Open ChatGPT Plugins on the web. Select the plus button and “Add custom MCP server”. Your account or workspace must allow custom connections.
- Name it PlanElec, enter the server URL under Connection and choose OAuth authentication. Sign in to PlanElec, review the requested permissions and create the plugin.
- Review the discovered tools. Install the plugin, start a conversation and select PlanElec with @. Ask it to list your projects before allowing changes.
Connect with Claude
- Open Customize → Connectors and add a custom connector. Your workspace may require an administrator to enable access.
- Name it PlanElec, enter the server URL and use OAuth with automatic client registration. Follow the PlanElec sign-in and permission steps.
- Enable PlanElec for your conversation and ask it to list your projects. Review which tools you allow it to use.
Menus, supported actions and plan availability depend on the provider. Use their current instructions if your screen differs.
Try a concrete request
Start with a project overview. Name the project you mean and check the result before requesting a change.
List my PlanElec projects and summarise the circuits and distribution boards in “House renovation”.
Find the PlanElec help guide for creating a single-line diagram. Include the source link.
Create a project named “House renovation” with the description “Ground floor electrical planning”.
The last example requires write access. Ask your assistant which PlanElec tools are available in your connection.
How can you use MCP in your business?
A customer appointment, a planning handover or the next site meeting: the examples on our audience pages show concrete requests for Claude or ChatGPT and the results you can work with.
Your account, your permissions
Account and plan
MCP requires active PlanElec Pro access. Sketch and a Sketch AI add-on are outside this offering. Your project access and the permissions you grant the connection determine which data your assistant can read and which changes it can make.
Your own AI subscription
These conversations run through your chosen AI service and do not use the PlanElec Studio AI allowance. Your provider’s subscription and usage limits apply separately.
What data is shared?
The assistant receives the results of the tools it calls, such as project names, descriptions, notes and planning summaries. Review the full consent screen: project and company permissions can also cover addresses, contact details and planning data. Your AI provider processes received data under its own terms and privacy settings.
Disconnect whenever you choose
In PlanElec, open My profile → Connected apps and revoke the app’s access. Also remove the connection in ChatGPT or Claude. Revocation stops future access; it does not remove data already present in earlier conversations.
Questions about the integration
What is MCP?
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It lets an AI assistant call specific PlanElec tools through an authenticated connection. You connect your own account and review the permissions before granting access.
Can ChatGPT or Claude draw my electrical installation?
Yes, for supported planning operations. Your assistant can read the saved project, make checked changes to floors, rooms, devices, circuits and cables, and report the result. The goal is to control the entire app. Some operations, including generating a new PDF and actions requiring a separate confirmation, still take place in Studio.
Why is a write tool missing?
Available tools depend on your granted permissions, PlanElec plan and the actions your AI service supports. Ask the assistant to show its PlanElec tools. If permissions have changed, reconnect and review the new consent screen. Contact support if access still differs from your plan.
Are AI answers an installation approval?
No. Check the project, inputs and source references yourself. PlanElec supports planning and self-checking. The recognised inspection body carries out the official inspection.
Technical connection details
Remote MCP over Streamable HTTP with OAuth. The server lists the tools your account may use. Project writes require projects:write and plan access; each action is checked on the server. No local server installation is needed.
